Lynchburg, Virginia

James Donald Sahli, 66, of Lynchburg, VA, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at his residence. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gail Hewitt Sahli.

Born September 29, 1939, in Linton, ND, he was the son of the late John Sahli and the late Esther Sautter Sahli. Mr. Sahli was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and had served his country with the U.S. Marines. He had retired from Greif Inc., where he was employed for 30 years. Family photo

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Rebecca S. Smith and husband, Bill of Lynchburg; Diana S. Wyngaarden and husband, Eric of Menifee, CA; Dawn Sahli of Virginia Beach; two sons, Scott Sahli and wife, Tana of Madison Heights and Kent Sahli and wife, Stacy of Dania, FL; six grandchildren: Jennifer Hunt, Brandi Sligh, Elizabeth Hunt, Cara Tomlin, Sean Castro, and Brianna Castro; two great- grandchildren, Brooklyn Savage and Devin Sligh; and six brothers: John Sahli of Milwaukee, WI; Paul Sahli of Pensacola, FL; Thomas Sahli of Appleton, WI; David Sahli of Milwaukee, WI; Robert Sahli of Appleton, WI and Steven Sahli of Odenton, MD.

A memorial mass will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2006, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Lynchburg, VA, by the Rev. James E. Dorson.

The family will receive friends at the church following the mass.

Gail (Hewitt) Sahli
Madison Heights, Virginia

Gail Hewitt Sahli, 67, of Madison Heights, died May 7, 2008. She was the wife of the late James Donald Sahli.

Born in Green Bay, Wis., she was a daughter of the late Lloyd Allen and Leone Marsh Hewitt. She attended St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Amherst.

Survivors include three daughters, Rebecca S. Smith and her husband, Bill, of Lynchburg, Diana S. Wyngaarden and her husband, Eric, of Menifee, Calif., and Dawn Sahli of Virginia Beach; two sons, Scott Sahli and his wife, Tana, of Madison Heights and Kent Sahli and his wife, Stacy, of Dania, Fla.; one sister, Lynn H. Bricco of Larson, Wis; and six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A mass of Christian burial was conducted May 10 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Amherst.
