Kelvie, Julie Ann, age 101 of New Hope, passed away December 4, 2016. Preceded in death by husband, Donald. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Julie worked as a school teacher. She was a volunteer at St. Austins Catholic Church and St. Therese Care Center. Memorial Mass 10:00 AM Friday, December 16 at St. Therese Care Center Chapel, 8000 Bass Lake Road, New Hope with visitation one half hour before Mass. Born near Hague, ND the daughter of Joseph and Magdalena (Kocher) Sahli, Julie spent her childhood in Hague, attending grade school and the first two years of high school there. Her junior year she attended high school at Strasburg, ND and her senior year at St. Benedict’s, where she entered the convent and continued college for a year, after which she began teaching. She continued working toward her degree by attending summer school for six years. Julie taught in Minneapolis for 15 years.
She left the convent in 1952 to care for her ailing mother which included moving her to Minneapolis where they lived with Julie’s sister Gladys. There she took a job in a bank and in 1955 met her husband-to-be Donald Kelvie, whom she would marry after the death of her mother in 1956.
Julie and Donald made their home in Minneapolis and also purchased a small property in Florida where they would spend their time during the Minnesota winters. They enjoyed traveling, visiting with relatives and good conversation.
Donald passed away in 2004 and Julie made the decision to relocate to a senior community where she enjoyed her new lifestyle, attending daily Mass, participating in social activities, playing cards, meeting new people and sharing her wonderful spirit with others.
